You Have More Than One Brain!

Your gut is more than magical.  Experts are now calling this our "second Brain".
It's intelligent, complicated and has to make lots of quick decisions.  We are only beginning to understand it all.
While the jury is still out on conditions such as leaky gut syndrome, what I want to report to you tonight are the results I've personally obtained  because I started to pay close attention to what was going on my body.
I was getting sick like clockwork, fatigued, had very painful gas and a host of other symptoms that were very concerning.
The one thing that seems to be agreed upon is that lifestyle changes, changes in our diet, stress levels and exercise make a tremendous difference. Positive changes in your gut microbiome happen quickly when you begin consuming nutrient dense foods. We live in a constant state of inflammation.  Our immune systems (which the gut controls) are injured and we have to think long and hard about what we are doing to ourselves. Our nation has an epidemic of obesity, heart disease and type 2 diabetes.  Look at other countries with diets nonexistent of processed foods, less meat and more whole grains.  It isn't difficult to draw your own conclusions. You HAVE to get yourself and your family our of the fast food drive-thru and stop using your car as a dining table! I just saw a commercial where the mother replied to a query as to why people didn't eat at the table anymore.  Her reply was "that's what drink holders were for"!
. People need to be able to control the quality of the ingredients in their food.  The marketing machine (heard that from Dr. Phil) only cares about one thing and it's not your health.
My childhood was riddled with poor nutrition.  I contracted ulcerative colitis  at age 4.In the nineteen fifties, Boston Children's Hospital wanted to remove my entire intestinal system.(my mother, thank God said no.)  I also suffered from terrible eczema on my face as well as other parts of my body that were constantly getting infected.. These remained problems for many, many years. Steroids blew me up like a balloon. Tar baths and goats milk for formula were of little help.
The second step I took when I began this journey was to start taking a GOOD QUALITY probiotic.  You can't skimp on the price of these..  It has to be one that can survive the acids in your stomach so it can get to where it belongs.  Probiotics contain billions of good bacteria that live in the lower part of your gut. Antibiotics are another sure way to cause your immune system to suffer. Just as important to me was to consume prebiotics.  This is the fertilizer that feeds the good bacteria. Bananas, garlic, dandelion greens, fermented foods (love, love, LOVE raw sauerkraut!) are some of the foods that will help to heal that beautiful second brain of yours.
One more thing I did was to take (again, good quality) essential enzymes before I ate. This helps with the breakdown and absorption of nutrients in your food.  I've since added a chewable prebiotic that I drink lots of water with to help feed the good flora.  This has turned my gut into a fine running machine. (Along with food of course)

That's my TRUE STORY for today.
                       Blessings.
